About this event
How can we channel our anger in positive ways?
At this event, Lama Rod Owens will share his experiences in exploring the anger he has felt at societal injustice and his experience growing up as a gay, black man in southern USA. Lama Rod has spent years studying Buddhist wisdom and learning how to make space for his anger. He has found that anger is in fact protecting and indicating the presence of deep wounds; and finding space to be with those wounds in all their discomfort is the key to using anger with control and wisdom to benefit others.
Lama Rod has developed a series of practices for self-care, having understood that hate flourishes when we have a lack of empathy for ourselves. At this event, he will explore how we can provide a safe space for the “shadow” or more difficult aspects of ourselves, in order to find true liberation.

About The Speaker
Lama Rod Owens is a Buddhist minister, best-selling author, activist, yoga instructor, and teacher in the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism and is considered one of the leaders of his generation of Buddhist teachers.
He holds a Master of Divinity degree in Buddhist Studies from Harvard Divinity School. He is co-author of Radical Dharma: Talking Race, Love and Liberation and co-founder of Bhumisparsha, a Buddhist practice and study community.
Lama Rod offers talks, retreats and workshops in many countries. His latest book, Love & Rage: The Path to Liberation Through Anger, was featured in The Los Angeles Times’ Top Ten Best Sellers list in 2021. Love & Rage is critically acclaimed for its prophetic truth, timing, honesty and wisdom in dealing with the multiplicity of challenges this generation is waking up to.
The event will be hosted by Dr Mark Williamson from Action for Happiness.
