SUMMARY:Enhance Your Physical Wellbeing By Managing Your Energy\, Not Just Your Time
DESCRIPTION:About this event\nInspired by the same name article first published in Harvard Business Review in 2007\, our last webinar will focus on how we as individuals\, and organizations should look at productivity and wellbeing from a new perspective. Physical wellbeing means we have the energy to get things done. Mental wellbeing again is inter-related with our physical wellbeing\, as shown in Chinese medical history records as well as recent medical research. \nFor our last interactive webinar\, we have invited founder of fitness app Flog Hiroka Lee and two Hong Kong medical doctors\, Dr. Vanessa Wong and Dr. Laurena Law\, founders of Ananta Well-Being\, who have a passion for wellness and holistic healing and are practising functional medicine in their clinics. They have come through their own paths to embrace different holistic practices\, because they see on a daily basis how it has helped their clients. \nTogether they will lead dynamic discussions with you in the break-out sessions on: \nHow our habitual food intake might have a toll in our productivity and long-term health\nHow exercising and creating a routine that works for busy corporate staff\nPractical tips on enhancing our own physical well-being\nWellbeing. Millennial. Leadership. – Why We Host This Webinar Series\nWellbeing has never been so widely discussed\, especially our mental wellbeing. However\, if we just talk about mental wellbeing is not enough\, there are other interplaying elements namely physical\, workplace (social and community wellbeing in a bigger sense)\, financial and career. \nAscension Associates\, a leadership consultancy founded by a Hong Kong millennial and Tune Protect Group\, a digital insurer that aims to be the millennial employer of choice\, recognize the burning need of addressing our wellbeing gaps that we see at both customer and organizational levels. \nSome of our speakers including our hosts have experienced significant life changes\, (something that we can all relate to a certain degree over the last 2 years) where we realize essentially our quality of life depends on our wellbeing\, and it’s not a monolithic static experience.

SUMMARY:Rethinking Stress - with Modupe Akinola
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special event with Professor Modupe Akinola about rethinking stress and how you can develop a positive “stress mindset”.\nAbout this event\nHow can we reframe stress for ourselves and others?\nStress in an inevitable part of life and the events of the last two years have been particularly stressful for many of us. Professor Modupe Akinola has been researching the impact of stress in the workplace for many years and has also had to put her research into practice in her own life during the pandemic. \nAt this event\, Modupe will share how crucial it is to challenge our mindset around stress and how getting curious about our stress responses can help us cope better next time something difficult happens. She’ll explain how we can reduce feelings of powerlessness and overwhelm – and help us remember that we’ve got through stressful situations before and can do so again\, perhaps even better than before. By learning to see stress as an enhancing force\, which prepares our body for action\, we can counter our negative self-talk and improve our overall wellbeing. \nThe event will take place on Zoom at 7pm London time (GMT). \nTo see the start time in your time zone\, please click here. \nAbout The Speaker \nModupe Akinola is an Associate Professor of Management at Columbia Business School and Director of the Bernstein Center for Leadership and Ethics. She also hosts the TED Business podcast. Modupe examines how organizational environments – with the pressures of deadlines and multitasking – can lead to stress\, and how this stress can spill over to affect performance. She studies why some people thrive under stress while others buckle\, looking at how we react psychologically and physiologically to stressful situations and how these responses can affect outcomes like negotiations and creativity. She also studies workforce diversity\, including the biases that affect the recruitment and retention of women and people of color in organizations. Modupe’s award-winning research has been published in leading scholarly and practitioner-oriented outlets and covered widely in the media. Modupe is one of the most highly rated professors at Columbia Business School and has received several teaching and research awards. Prior to pursuing an academic career\, Modupe was a consultant and investment banker. \nThe event will be hosted by Dr Mark Williamson from Action for Happiness.

SUMMARY:Strategic Approaches to Diversity & Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:About this event\nWe will be joined by Rachel White\, Head of HR at Henry Boot PLC. Rachel will share how the business has developed their strategic approach to Diversity and Inclusion; describing the significant milestones of the last three years and their plans for the future. \nDiversity recognises that\, though people have things in common with each other\, they are also different in many ways. Inclusion is where those differences are seen as a benefit\, and where perspectives and differences are shared\, leading to better decisions. Everyone should have a right to equal access to employment and\, when employed\, should have equal pay and equal access to training and development. \nRachel’s passion for Diversity and Inclusion is contagious. She is on a mission not only raise the profile of this important agenda but also to regularly meet and learn from others\, create communities of best practice and drive change. \nOur meeting will also be an opportunity to understand Rachel’s vision and become a part of what we hope will become a regular part of our programme.

SUMMARY:Happier Together - with Jon Yates
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special event with author Jon Yates to learn how we can overcome our divisions to create a happier and less polarised society.\nAbout this event\nHow can we heal our divisions and find ways to thrive together?\nOur society feels increasingly polarised these days. In the online world\, anonymous rants stoke heated exchanges and algorithms encourage echo chambers of “people like us” – increasing our fear and distrust of others. Polarisation is heightened ever further\, increasing hostility and entrenching societal divisions. \nAt this event\, author Jon Yates will share important findings about how we have become so divided\, but also why it’s vital we find ways to connect with people who are different to ourselves. Jon will explain how division makes us all worse off and how spending more time with people who are not like us can help our society become more tolerant and understanding. Jon will explain how the post-pandemic world is an opportunity to start a new set of conversations. We have the opportunity to decide what sort of society we want to live in and how we can build that together\, in a way that works for everyone. We can be stronger – and happier – together. \nThe event will take place on Zoom at 7pm London time (GMT). \nTo see the start time in your time zone\, please click here. \nAbout The Speaker \nJon Yates is Executive Director of the Youth Endowment Fund\, a £200m charitable fund focused on integrating young people into society. After graduating from the University of Oxford\, he started his career as a community worker in the London Borough of Newham\, before joining McKinsey and Company\, where he advised charities\, companies and government on strategy and organisational development. He has co-founded a series of charities and initiatives including The Challenge and More in Common aimed at improving life chances and understanding. These programmes now reach 1 in 6 Britons in their lifetime. He is the author of Fractured: why our societies are coming apart and how we put them back together again. \nThe event will be hosted by Dr Mark Williamson from Action for Happiness.

SUMMARY:Gentle Yoga for Terrible Times
DESCRIPTION:Simple and accessible breathing exercises\, stretches\, and guided meditation for all bodies\, minds\, and spirits. No experience necessary.\nAbout this event\nHuman beings are not meant to be in constant fight\, flight\, or freeze mode. Chronic stress takes a devastating toll on our mental and physical well-being. If you are exhausted\, stressed out\, burnt out\, or just looking to relax and nourish your mind\, body\, and spirit\, please join me for 75 minutes of gentle yoga. \nMy mission is to make yoga accessible and inclusive for everyone\, regardless of race/ethnicity\, age\, gender\, sexual orientation\, income level\, body size\, or disability status. The primary goal of the class is to help you find a small bit of a peace and relaxation during scary and stressful times. \n***PLEASE READ***: \nAll classes are taught via Zoom from Los Angeles\, California (PDT/PST). \nYou will receive a Zoom link approximately 30 minutes before class begins. Please check your spam/promotions folder. \nRegistration closes one hour before class begins. Only the first 500 participants to join the Zoom will be admitted to the class. We will release people from the waiting room at 5:55 PM PST. \nFAQs \nWhat time does the class start? \nI am located in Los Angeles\, California. Class is on Saturday at 6 PM PDT/PST (Pacific Time.) If you are located in a different time zone and are confused or unsure of when that is\, here is a link to a world clock that will allow you to type in Los Angeles (where I am located) and your city to figure out when the class will begin: \nhttps://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html \nHow do I access the class? \nYou will receive a Zoom link approximately 30 minutes before class begins (approximately 5:30 PM Pacific Time.) Please check your spam/promotions folder. If you haven’t received a link\, it is almost certainly because it’s not yet time or because it’s in your spam/promotions folder. \n*PLEASE NOTE: only the first 500 students to actually attend the Zoom will be admitted. We will release people from the waiting room at 5:55 PM PST/PDT. \nWhat do I need? \nJust a pillow and a blanket OR towel. It doesn’t matter what kind– whatever you have at home will work just fine. \nWhat should I wear? \nI recommend wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable like leggings\, pajamas\, sweatpants\, or shorts. The main aspiration for the class is simply relaxation so we won’t be getting sweaty but you’ll want to wear something you can move around in a little. \nWhat if I don’t want to be on camera? \nNo worries! You are more than welcome to turn your camera off. You will still be able to see and hear me but you won’t have to be seen if you prefer not to be. \nHow gentle is “gentle”? \nThe class is designed with accessibility in mind so all the postures will be seated or on the ground with variations/options given if you need or wish to remain seated and much of the class is devoted to meditation which does not require any movement at all. I encourage you to listen to your own body and decide what is right for you.
