In her latest book\, Finding Refuge\, Michelle uses personal narrative\, meditation\, and journaling practices to explore being present with our hearts\, empowering us to see that we each have a role to play in taking intentional action to build momentum toward a shifting what is unsettled and unjust in the world. Through her work and writing\, Michelle invites us to pick up the shattered parts of ourselves and remember our strength\, wholeness\, and sacredness through the practice of presence and attending to our grief. \nJoin program innovation leader in mindfulness\, trauma\, and racial healing Jenée Johnson in a conversation with Michelle about her latest book\, her life and her work\, and learn how to process your own grief\, as well as family\, community\, and global grief. \nMichelle Cassandra Johnson is a social justice warrior\, author\, dismantling racism trainer\, empath\, yoga teacher and practitioner\, and an intuitive healer. With over 20 years of experience leading dismantling racism work and working with clients as a licensed clinical social worker\, Johnson has a deep understanding of how trauma impacts the mind\, body\, spirit\, and heart. The program promotes healing and sovereignty for Black people and is curated for those on the front line of community service and social justice missions. SUMMARY:Inclusive hiring series: measuring what matters
DESCRIPTION:About this event\n“What does not get measured cannot be fixed” – Iris Bohnet\, author of What Works: Gender Equality By Design \nWhile many organisations might measure how many applicants they get for a role to determine how successful their hiring round was\, there are a whole host of crucial metrics that are often missed. Why does it matter? At the end of the day\, hiring the right person is crucial to any business. The effectiveness and fit of a team to an organisation is critical and can make the difference between failure and success. And hiring is the pinch point where this all happens. \nThe issue is that most organisations don’t know how well they’re doing with hiring\, how predictive of job success their process really is\, or have enough evidence to convince their teams to make a change in the way things are done or the way costs are allocated. \nIn this session we’ll discuss the metrics you should use at each stage of the recruitment process\, some of the myths and pitfalls of the modern world of recruitment\, some of the tactics that can help with hiring the best people\, and crucially how to measure the effectiveness of any interventions you make in your hiring process. \nAbout Escape the City \nWe’re on a mission to help one million people to do work that matters to them and the world. Not just to find more fulfilling work but create it too. Online and offline we’ve seen first-hand the incredible power in connecting likeminded\, motivated\, passionate people with purposeful organisations. \nWhether it’s a small step or a brave leap\, we’ve learned that amazing outcomes and inspiring change is best achieved together. \nWe want to wake people up to what work can really look like. To careers built on freedom\, passion\, autonomy\, fulfilment\, and purpose. To more connected and more meaningful lives. To 21st Century Careers and organisations\, built on their terms\, not someone else’s. \nWe’re doing it because we believe a million more people doing work that matters to them will change the world.

SUMMARY:Gentle Yoga for Terrible Times
DESCRIPTION:Simple and accessible breathing exercises\, stretches\, and guided meditation for all bodies\, minds\, and spirits. No experience necessary.\nAbout this event\nHuman beings are not meant to be in constant fight\, flight\, or freeze mode. Chronic stress takes a devastating toll on our mental and physical well-being. If you are exhausted\, stressed out\, burnt out\, or just looking to relax and nourish your mind\, body\, and spirit\, please join me for 75 minutes of gentle yoga. \nMy mission is to make yoga accessible and inclusive for everyone\, regardless of race/ethnicity\, age\, gender\, sexual orientation\, income level\, body size\, or disability status. The primary goal of the class is to help you find a small bit of a peace and relaxation during scary and stressful times. \n***PLEASE READ***: \nAll classes are taught via Zoom from Los Angeles\, California (PDT/PST). \nYou will receive a Zoom link approximately 30 minutes before class begins. Please check your spam/promotions folder. \nRegistration closes one hour before class begins. Only the first 500 participants to join the Zoom will be admitted to the class. We will release people from the waiting room at 5:55 PM PST. \nFAQs \nWhat time does the class start? \nI am located in Los Angeles\, California. Class is on Saturday at 6 PM PDT/PST (Pacific Time.) If you are located in a different time zone and are confused or unsure of when that is\, here is a link to a world clock that will allow you to type in Los Angeles (where I am located) and your city to figure out when the class will begin: \nhttps://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html \nHow do I access the class? \nYou will receive a Zoom link approximately 30 minutes before class begins (approximately 5:30 PM Pacific Time.) Please check your spam/promotions folder. If you haven’t received a link\, it is almost certainly because it’s not yet time or because it’s in your spam/promotions folder. \n*PLEASE NOTE: only the first 500 students to actually attend the Zoom will be admitted. We will release people from the waiting room at 5:55 PM PST/PDT. \nWhat do I need? \nJust a pillow and a blanket OR towel. It doesn’t matter what kind– whatever you have at home will work just fine. \nWhat should I wear? \nI recommend wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable like leggings\, pajamas\, sweatpants\, or shorts. The main aspiration for the class is simply relaxation so we won’t be getting sweaty but you’ll want to wear something you can move around in a little. \nWhat if I don’t want to be on camera? \nNo worries! You are more than welcome to turn your camera off. You will still be able to see and hear me but you won’t have to be seen if you prefer not to be. \nHow gentle is “gentle”? \nThe class is designed with accessibility in mind so all the postures will be seated or on the ground with variations/options given if you need or wish to remain seated and much of the class is devoted to meditation which does not require any movement at all. I encourage you to listen to your own body and decide what is right for you. \nHow much does the class cost? \nThis class is completely free as an offering to the community. My aspiration is to make the practice of yoga\, breath work\, and meditation as accessible as possible so that everyone can learn and be part of the community regardless of their economic situation.
