SUMMARY:Leading with Inclusion

We use Zoom with secured settings to make this an effective experience. Zoom meeting details will be emailed to all registered participants in advance. \nWhy is this topic important\nResearch is telling us that one of the best ways to receive a diversity payoff is to support your leaders to lead with inclusion. Diverse teams can be tough to manage without robust leadership that is inclusive\, empathic\, respectful and self-aware of biases at work. Inclusive Leaders can help teams increase their customer engagement\, spark innovation and take better business decisions. \nYour time commitment\nThis is a one-hour webinar. Attend at this time based on location:11:00 am – 12:00 pm ACDT (Adelaide Time) \nHow you benefit from attending\nThis webinar will provide you with tips and strategies to activate your team’s differences and benefit from diversity at work. \nDiscover your strategic difference \nIt’s often hard for us to explore or accept that our differences matter at work. We can often take our key strengths and advantages for granted. Before you tap into your team’s diversity\, get familiar with what sets you apart. Learn how your differences can be profitable at work and in your leadership. \nUnderstand hurdles to inclusion \nLeaders need more than intention to succeed in a diverse and changing environment. Intentions have to translate into outcomes and impact. Knowing the hurdles to being inclusive at work can help raise awareness and remove the roadblocks in the way of your team feeling included\, accepted and safe at work. \nActivate Inclusive Leadership \nLearn three strategies to jumpstart inclusion in your team and strengthen your leadership skills in a diverse team environment. You will get foundational strategies to move from leading inclusively and tapping into differences that help people feel included\, heard and valued at work and in your leadership. \nHow your team will benefit\nTeams respond to leaders who listen with the intent to understand and engage with differences with courage and empathy. A team built on inclusion\, respect and safety can accelerate creativity\, innovation and problem-solving at work. \nAccessibility \nEquality Consulting provides accessible and inclusive events and trainings. SUMMARY:Happier than Before – with Gretchen Rubin
DESCRIPTION:At this event\, author and happiness researcher Gretchen Rubin will discuss how we can effectively put new habits in place\, using strategies that play to our natural strengths and mean that we have more brain space for decision making about the things that matter. \n\nWhilst acknowledging that there is no “one size fits all” approach\, Gretchen believes our responses to external and internal expectations define our “Tendency”. Knowing our own Tendency\, or that of others we live or work with can help us to embed or break habits\, to lead healthier\, happier\, more productive lives\, in ways that will last. \nThe event will take place on Zoom at 7pm London time (GMT). \nTo see the start time in your time zone\, please click here. \nAbout The Speaker \nGretchen Rubin is one of today’s most influential and thought-provoking observers of happiness and human nature. SUMMARY:Let’s Talk About Race: Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Last year while we were all ordered to shelter in place and work from home during the Great Pandemic\, millions took to the streets to protest against racial injustice. HR professionals grappled with how to navigate these difficult conversations and address these issues in the workplace. Companies are now rethinking how to foster these important discussions and HR and leadership’s role to ensure that diversity\, equity\, and inclusion are enshrined as core values and are achievable objectives in our respective workplaces. This presentation will raise awareness of unconscious bias and provide guidelines for supporting employees of diverse backgrounds and bystanders when incidents occur in the workplace. \nThe learning objectives for this workshop are to: \nWhat does the lack of diversity in the workplace and especially in leadership roles in corporations tell us about our collective commitment to diversity\, equity\, and inclusion? The numbers don’t add up\, all the way up the corporate ladder.\nWhat are different unconscious bias types\, and how “color blindness” has hindered our ability to change what others are blind to? You can’t change what you don’t see. \nDo HR professionals believe that their organization is doing enough to advance DEI and feel comfortable speaking up about these issues?\nHow should HR professionals respond to employee concerns about bias (that may not necessarily rise to the level of harassment or discrimination)?\nWhat not to say—what are some conversation non-starters and what are some common pitfalls for HR to avoid? How to show support for the target/victim of offensive behavior or comments? How to encourage bystanders to speak up without fear of repercussions? \nWhat are new CA laws that address workplace diversity\, equity\, and inclusion\, and what steps must HR take to comply with these laws?\nOur speaker\, Jane Kow\, has practiced employment law and provided human resources consulting services on behalf of employers for over 25 years. Following graduation from NYU School of Law in 1993\, she practiced at prominent law firms\, where she represented employers of all sizes and across industries in employment disputes. She also served as Senior Counsel and the sole employment lawyer at a Silicon Valley-based company with 75 locations worldwide before founding HR Law Consultants in 2002. \nHer practice focuses on advising\, training\, auditing\, and investigating workplaces to ensure compliance with federal\, state\, and local workplace laws. Jane Kow has testified before the Commissioners at the EEOC headquarters in Washington\, DC\, on employer best practices on preventing and investigating workplace harassment and how to conduct effective workplace investigations. \nLegal Advice and Compliance Audits for Employers On Personnel Policies and Practices \nJane Kow routinely advises and trains workforces on all aspects of workplace laws\, including sexual harassment prevention\, investigating and resolving workplace complaints\, legal issues of supervision\, regulating employee’s social media use\, documenting employee misconduct and performance issues\, managing employee medical leaves\, and providing reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities\, and conducting internal audits of wage and hour practices\, and a variety of other employment law compliance issues. She has been retained as a trial expert to provide consulting services and to testify in a number of cases on human resources best practices\, workplace investigations\, and workplace disability accommodations. She has also conducted comprehensive audits of workplace practices\, policies\, and procedures to ensure compliance with a variety of employment and wage and hour laws\, including an examination of a company’s pay practices. \nCustomized\, Interactive\, and Practical Training On A Variety of Workplace Topics

SUMMARY:Disability Visibility
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to welcome contributors to an essential anthology for disability rights\, Disability Visibility. This collection of essays\, memoirs and oral histories presents a vital snapshot of the vast range of experiences gathered under the umbrella term of disability\, a galvanising insight into how many of us live\, and how narrow a range of narratives tends to reach a national audience. \nIn partnership with Arts & Disability Ireland\, we are joined by the anthology’s editor\, Alice Wong\, and contributors Eugene Grant and Alice Sheppard. The conversation will be facilitated by Jody O’Neill. \nAlice Wong (she/her) is a disabled activist\, media maker\, and Director of the Disability Visibility Project\, an online community dedicated to creating\, sharing and amplifying disability media and culture. \nEugene Grant is a part time writer and activist in the dwarfism community\, based in North East England. \nAlice Sheppard is a dancer\, choreographer and writer. Engaging disability arts\, culture\, and history\, she is intrigued by the intersections of disability\, gender\, and race. \nJody O’Neill is an award-winning autistic writer and performer\, based in County Wicklow. Her work has a strong focus on disability advocacy and social inclusion.
